Man allegedly grabs girl at grocery store
A 34-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly touched an 11-year-old while she was in a grocery store aisle.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A former education worker is facing a criminal charge after a bizarre incident at a grocery store.

Stephen Todd Druesedow, 34, made his first court appearance Monday for allegedly taking indecent liberties with an 11-year-old child.

Prosecutors say he was with a female companion at the Food Lion in the 4600 block of Hillsborough Road in Durham when he admitted he was attracted to a young girl he observed reaching for an item on a shelf.

"[He] went up to the alleged victim and grabbed her buttocks because he was sexually attracted to her," explained an assistant district attorney.

The child alerted her parents who called store security. Druesedow was arrested on Sunday.

Prosecutors say he was remorseful shortly after the alleged incident. They asked the judge to increase his bond to $50,000 from $20,000 because investigators believe he has exhibited troublesome and compulsive behavior.

Druesedow told the judge he is unemployed and living with his parents. His work experience listed on his LinkedIn profile says he read and evaluated student essays for a national educational testing company with a satellite office in Durham for five years until 2012.

While the judge reduced Druesedow's bond to $5,000, she ordered him to stay away from minors under the age of 18 and barred him from visiting the Food Lion where the incident occurred.

Druesedow has a DWI conviction from 2009. His next court date is August 27.

ABC11 contacted Druesedow's parents. They declined to comment.
