RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a string of recent robberies at several Chinese restaurants in Raleigh.

Timothy Mays was charged Sunday with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping, and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with at least three robberies within the past month.

Investigators said they believe he committed the most recent crime on July 12, as well as at least two others in June.

Mays' arrest comes after the State Bureau of Investigation sent out an alert last week about owners of Asian restaurants being targeted at home after leaving work. Those crimes happened in several areas in the eastern part of the state - including Johnston County.

On Monday, an SBI spokesperson told ABC11 that while the crimes in Raleigh are not an exact fit, agents are comparing notes with Raleigh detectives who charged Mays. In the meantime, there was another home invasion robbery of the owner of an Asian restaurant in New Bern over the weekend. The SBI says that crime does appear to fit the pattern in the other home invasion cases.
