ARCHDALE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A memorial Sunday honored the Appalachian State University student whose body was found Saturday.
The memorial for Anna Smith took place in Archdale.
Boone Police say they discovered Smith's body in a wooded area at the west end of town.
The Charlotte Observer reports the 18-year-old left her cellphone and laptop at her parents' home after a visit to talk about a troubling experience in August.
Smith reported being assaulted after going out with friends.
Authorities have said something left her in an "anguished" state.
