Wake Co. leak concerns neighbors
Residents in a neighborhood near Garner were concerned about a leak that lasted 6 months

GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Water is not a resource most people want to waste, but a water leak went unfixed for months in a local neighborhood.

"I first noticed it in May," Jim Rogers said.

Jim saw the water running and called his water supplier Aqua America. The company sent a crew to the neighborhood, but it wasn't fixed.

"It's a small hole, you can see water running out, and it kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger," he said.

Aqua sent a crew out again.

"They dug on down another 20-30 feet," Jim said.

But the water's still running.

"This is a leak from somewhere, nobody knows where," Jim said.

He said despite several calls to Aqua, six months after the initial call, water is still wasting away.

"Right now there's plenty of water, but it's a finite resource, we can't just waste it, let it run down the road," Jim said. "I want to see it fixed."

I got in touch with Aqua and crews came back out to Jim's neighborhood. It took several days to find the source of the leak, but the crew finally found it and fixed it.

Jim is happy water is no longer being wasted. Aqua also repaired any damage done to residents' property.

A representative for Aqua thanked me for bringing this to their attention. They added they're sorry it took so long to identify the leak and they appreciate Mr. Rogers's patience.
