WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- On Saturday, grieving friends and family attended the funeral for the young boy hit by a car after falling off his bike on a busy Wake Forest road.
Mourners sobbed and hugged each other as they remembered 9-year-old Logan DeCosta.
"Logan is with God! Logan is in heaven, Logan is in heaven. He's with the Lord," said Enoch E. Holloway, pastor of Friendship Chapel Baptist Church.
Logan died in the hospital just days after he was run over on May 12.
The car's driver told investigators she didn't see the boy, and she wasn't charged.
During Saturday's funeral, the principal of Rolesville Elementary school described Logan as a student who really cared for others.
Dana Primiano also said the young athlete loved sports.
"Logan will be remembered for getting off the bus and coming into school each day wearing his Chicago Bulls hat," Primiano said. "He really was a proud fan of the Bulls."
The Bulls sent the family a letter of condolence.
Angele Jones, a friend of the family who spoke at the funeral, asked for prayers for the Logan's family.
