Fiery rescue in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM (WTVD) -- The aftermath of a fiery collision was caught on police body cam in Winston-Salem this week.

Police say the crash happened when a school bus turned in front a pick-up truck.

Seven police officers and three Good Samaritans all worked together to free a man trapped inside the burning truck.

"He was saying the guy was stuck in the vehicle," Good Samaritan Chris Owens said. "We just went to it, trying to help him out, put the fire out, got crowbars to try and pry open the doors because it was stuck, it wedged him in."

The driver remains in the hospital with serious injuries. It is unclear if anyone else was injured in the wreck.

The 81-year-old school bus driver has been charged with failure to yield the right of way.
