Bridge named for trooper in Nash County
The Nash County bridge was named for Bobby Demuth Jr.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- It was an emotional day for the family of a state trooper who was killed four years ago in the line of duty.

The family of Bobby Demuth Jr. was there Thursday at a bridge naming ceremony in his honor.

The dedication ceremony was held in Rocky Mount.

Demuth was killed in 2012 near the Highway 64 bridge over Red Oak Road.

Demuth and his other troopers were trying to put down stop sticks to stop a chase when the getaway driver hit and killed him.

Christopher Rodgers is serving a 35 year prison sentence for the trooper's death.
