FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- An apartment complex maintenance man, charged with shooting a teen at the complex pool, is facing additional assault charges.

Donald Nichols, 48, was charged earlier this week with misdemeanor assault on a female and assault by pointing a gun.

Nichols was already arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury for the July 9 shooting that injured 19-year-old Demarcus Turner at the Eagle Point Village Apartments on Cliffdale Road.

Police said Nichols confronted Turner at the complex pool that night, before a physical altercation that ended with Nichols shooting Turner in the leg. Details surrounding the latest charges are not available, but 911 calls from the incident indicate the altercation had to do with an assault on female.

A representative from R.E. Carroll Management, the Greensboro-based company that owns the complex, confirmed it is against company policy for employees to carry weapons on their properties.

Turner was treated and released from UNC Hospitals.

Nichols posted a $2,500 bond, and is expected in court at the end of the month.
