Pedestrian hit near Garner dies

GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was struck on U.S. Highway 70 between Raynor Road and Greenfield Parkway east of Garner.

It happened around 8 a.m. Monday.

The person was rushed to WakeMed, where the Highway Patrol said they later died.

The name of the person who died has not been released.

Troopers said the driver will not be charged.
