FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Authorities say a man trying to cross a Fayetteville road Wednesday morning was hit by an oncoming vehicle and died.

It happened just before 7 a.m. along Raeford Road near Strickland Bridge Road.

Police said 44-year-old Steve David Love of Kentucky was trying to cross Raeford Road when he was hit by a white passenger van. The van also collided with a Honda sedan, according to pictures from the scene. The larger vehicle ended up on top of the car.

No one else was injured.

The accident forced all outbound lanes of Raeford Road past Strickland Bridge Road to be closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the area.

Police are still investigating. Further details surrounding the incident have not been released.
