Police are investigating after a person was crushed by a piece of stone at a Raleigh business

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- An employee who died at a Raleigh business Monday was crushed by a 600-pound slab of granite according to preliminary information from the Department of Labor.

It happened at Cosmos Granite and Marble on New Hope Road.

According to authorities the employee was loading slabs onto a truck when the piece he was working with started to tip over because it was not positioned properly.

Officials say the employee tried to stop it from falling but it crushed him.

The OSH division of the Department of Labor is investigation.

No details have been released on his identity.
