Person killed in Durham crash discovered Monday morning

DURHAM, NC (WTVD) -- One person is dead in a Durham crash that was discovered Monday morning on Hwy 54 near Hope Valley Rd.

The driver was identified as 25-year-old Nelson Corea of Durham.

Police said Corea was headed west on Hwy 54 when his car left the road, went over a guardrail, ran down an embankment, and flipped over in a swampy area.

Corea was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car.

The accident apparently happened just after midnight, but wasn't found until around 7 a.m.
