Person killed in Durham crash

DURHAM (WTVD) -- The Durham Police Department is investigating a two-car crash that left one person dead Wednesday night.

Police said it happened around 6:40 p.m. in the 300 block of Junction Road near Ross Road. Kyjahri Christopher, 22, of Henderson was driving north on Junction Road and sideswiped a Toyota Camry driven by Demontre Lloyd, 25, of Durham.

Lloyd's car was at the entrance to an apartment complex when the accident happened.

Christopher lost control of his car and ran off the left side of the road, striking a tree. Christopher was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lloyd was not injured.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
