A plane was able to land safely at RDU after an engine scare

RALEIGH-DURHAM AIRPORT (WTVD) -- A regional jet has landed safely after some engine trouble heading into Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

The flight, Delta commuter partner flight 6264, originated in Boston.

The cockpit crew reported they had trouble with an engine. They declared an alert and wanted to come in for an emergency landing at RDU on Thursday afternoon.

They were able to restart their engine and land safely.

There were 71 passengers and a crew of four on board the Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.

The plane has since taxied to the gate.

Airport officials said maintenance is inspecting the plane to see what caused the reported malfunction.
