Plans delayed to close Fort Bragg's 440th Airlift Wing
There's been reprieve of sorts for Pope Army Airfield's 440th Airlift Wing.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (WTVD) -- There's been reprieve of sorts for Pope Army Airfield's 440th Airlift Wing.

The commander announced over the weekend that inactivation, which had been scheduled for this September, has been postponed until March of next year.

He said the 2015 timeline wasn't possible without causing issues.

The unit is home to a fleet of C-130 aircraft. It provides airborne training and operational support to Fort Bragg units.

The unit fell victim to Air Force budget cuts last year.
