CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Cary Police Department is using pictures from surveillance cameras to try to identify two women who allegedly came into nursing homes dressed as nurses to steal.

The women are seen going door to door checking for empty rooms and then going in to take primarily jewelry. The stolen property is worth tens of thousands of dollars.

"Never hesitate to ask for proper identification from anyone in the service industry, and always keep your valuables locked up and out of plain view regardless of where you live," said Capt. Randall Rhyne with the Cary Police Department.

The thefts happened on July 4 at 750 SE Cary Parkway and on July 11 at 17001 Searstone Drive. Neither woman wore any identification, and nursing home residents said they were polite and friendly.

Police said based on the surveillance video the first suspect is white or Hispanic, 25-35 years old, 5'1" to 5'5" tall, with medium build and dark hair. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail and she wore sunglasses on top of her head.

The second suspect was about the same height, build, and race. She is roughly 45-55 years old and wore a train conductor-style hat with glasses and spoke with a heavy accent.
