Police: Home invasion suspect shot by homeowner
A man was shot while breaking into a home in Fayetteville late Friday afternoon, according to police.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A man was shot while breaking into a home in Fayetteville on Friday, according to police.

Police said it happened around 5:15 p.m. in the Massey Hill subdivision when a 27-year-old man was trying to break into a house on Mayview Street, but the home was occupied.

The homeowner shot the man as he was trying to enter the home.

The suspect was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he underwent surgery. The homeowner was not hurt.

The identity of the suspect is not yet known.
