RALEIGH (WTVD) -- North Carolina State University Police sent out a Wolf Alert to students, faculty, and staff after a female student reported being sexually assaulted near campus Thursday night. Early Friday, an updated alert was sent out saying police had determined the attack did not happen.

According to authorities, the student said she was forcefully grabbed and pulled into what appeared to be cargo/panel van by several unidentified men while she was outside the Wolf Mart in the 2800 block of Hillsborough Street around 11:20 p.m. Thursday. Once inside the van, she told police that she was sexually assaulted, before being dropped off on campus near the Dan Allen Parking Deck. The van then fled the area.

The victim said there were at least three suspects and described all of them as white men with a slender, muscular build. She could only say one as wearing a baggy white shirt and long pants.

Police did not immediately say how they determined the report was false. They did say no charges are pending against the student.
