GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police say a man reported his SUV was stolen when he actually crashed it.

Last Wednesday, 42-year-old Roland Parker filed a police report saying his Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from a parking lot on West Grantham Street in Goldsboro.

The vehicle was later found wrecked by the NC Highway Patrol off Stevens Mill Road.

Detectives said they determined Parker was driving the SUV at the time of the crash.

He's now charged with filing a false police report, DWI, hit and run, and not wearing a seatbelt.

Bond was set at $2,000.
