Authorities are in an all-out manhunt for the driver they say was responsible for a serious wreck on I-540.

RALEIGH -- Authorities from several law enforcement agencies were in an all-out manhunt Sunday for the driver they say was responsible for a serious wreck on I-540.

It happened between Leesville Road and Glenwood Avenue around 3:40 p.m. Two cars collided, and one of the cars overturned and ended up in the median guardrail.

Raleigh police say the driver bolted from the scene after plowing into the other car.

Police said the driver, 60-year-old Margarito Vega Acevedo, fled on foot into a wooded area north of the accident.

No one was hurt in the overturned vehicle, but investigators said several people in the car that caused the accident were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police searched several neighborhoods in north Raleigh, around Brier Creek, as they looked for Acevedo.

Raleigh's K-9 unit was called to help search for Acevedo, but was unsuccessful.

Highway Patrol and the Wake County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene of the crash to assist Raleigh police.

Warrants for a hit and run, driving with a suspended license, and failure to yield the right of way have been issued for Acevedo.
