DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police say the man who allegedly shot girlfriend at a hotel Sunday night has been arrested.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. at the Comfort Inn off of Highway 55. Mike Dwayne Brown allegedly shot the woman three times.

She called 911 right after it happened.

"Are you bleeding? Where have you been shot?" asked the operator.

"In my side," the woman tells her. "I'm shot in my arm too and it's hurting."

"I cannot move," she continues.

Police said several children were in the room at the time, but they were not injured.

"My kids are laying down asleep," the woman tells the 911 operator.

Paramedics rushed the 27-year-old woman to Duke Hospital with serious injuries.

Detectives said 33-year-old Brown fled the scene but later turned himself in to police around 2 a.m. Monday.

Authorities say charges are forthcoming.
