Power restored to Garner
Duke Energy Progress reported about 15,000 customers in the Garner area were without electric service Wednesday evening.

GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Duke Energy Progress reported about 15,000 customers in the Garner area were without electric service Wednesday evening.

The utility's website said the outage was caused by damage to transmission lines in the area around 7 p.m.

One Garner resident described what happened.

"My wife was in the shower when the power -- it was like graying out. It was like giving us half power and cutting back off. She was in the middle of washing her hair and sent me over here to Kroger and I saw lights on and you know, and I thought a glimmer of hope and I get here and they're closed," said Kyle Wilson. "I find it ironic and hilarious that you know not a drop of rain and yet no power."

Power began to be restored around 10:30 p.m.
