Power restored to Wake Forest area

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- Over 1,500 Wake Forest Power customers lost power at approximately 2:30 p.m. Friday due to an overloaded circuit.

Officials say affected areas of town included Gateway Commons, portions of downtown, Remington Woods, Old Mill Stream, Stadium Road, McDowell Drive, Staffordshire, Jenkins Road, Deacons Ridge and Heath Ridge Village.

All of the town's customers had power restored by 3:30 p.m.

The outage impacted traffic signals at several major intersections around town, including Calvin Jones Highway (NC 98 Bypass)/Jones Dairy Road and South White Street/Roosevelt Avenue resulting in significant traffic delays.
