Boy shoots brother with arrow
Raleigh police said a boy shot his younger brother in the neck with an arrow Sunday afternoon.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The Wake County Sheriff's Office is investigating how a boy shot his younger brother in the neck with an arrow on Sunday afternoon.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. at 1110 Swift Creek Lane. Deputies said a 7-year-old boy was hit with an arrow by his 11-year-old brother.

The child was taken to WakeMed, but his condition was not released.

The boys' uncle, Javier Velazquez, told ABC11 the boy's parents were home at the time of the accident. He said the brothers got hold of the weapon and were fooling around with the arrow.

"They were playing. It was an accident," said Velazquez.

According to a 911 call by the boys' mother, the 7-year-old "was shot in the throat" by the arrow.

She told the operator that her son has a bow and arrow and he was shooting at things in the woods when the incident happened.

The Sheriff's Office told ABC11 Monday that they "have no more information to share at this time" and that the investigation is ongoing.
