Authorities are looking for driver who hit and killed a pedestrian in Raleigh

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Authorities are looking for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian on Poole Road just outside of Raleigh Thursday night. The body of a 23-year-old man was found in a ditch on the side of the road Friday morning.

The incident happened between 11:45 p.m. and midnight, but the body was discovered around 7:45 a.m., said Lt. Jeff Gordon, of North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The pedestrian was later identified as Terrance Rayshone Faison of Raleigh.

Troopers have recovered a piece of the vehicle and are looking for a two-tone 2005 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer with gold on the bottom and damage to the front right corner bumper.

It is unclear if the driver knew they hit someone, but charges will be filed when the driver is notified, Lt. Gordon said.

Residents in the area say accidents are common as people drive fast and it is not well lit.
