Raleigh Police are seeking help to identify a suspect in a carjacking last week at the University Village Apartments.

A 22-year-old grad student at N.C. State told police that on Friday about 7:15 a.m., she got into her SUV, which was parked near the corner of Big Cypress and Grey Paw courts.

As she got ready to leave, a man displaying a handgun opened her front passenger door, robbed her of cash and directed her to drive away from her parking spot. As she complied, the suspect took her cell phone.

In a 911 call, the victim said: "Pulled out his gun out of his pants and then was holding it to me. Not at my head or anything, just like towards me and said, 'Give me all your money. Give me everything you have.' And so I did.

"He was like, 'Take me to the ATM right now.' And I was like, 'OK.' He was like, 'Do what I say, comply with me and I won't hurt you.'"

According to the 911 call, the victim told the man she did not have a credit card. He then told her "that's no good to me," and ordered her to turn around.

He told her to return to Big Cypress and Grey Paw. As she was driving back, the suspect jumped from her vehicle on Lineberry Drive, and he ran through the parking lot of a nursing home toward Lake Wheeler Road.

The suspect is described as a black man in his teens to 20s who stands about 5 feet 9 inches tall and has a slim build. He had a short Afro cut that was about one inch in length and was clean shaven. His wore a coffee-colored, collared shirt and blue jeans, and he had a backpack.
