Power restored after trash truck hits utility box
A trash truck landed on an electrical box in Raleigh, knocking out power to hundreds of customers.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Hundreds of Duke Energy customers in east Raleigh lost power early Wednesday morning when a garbage truck overturned, damaging utility equipment.

It happened around 9 a.m. off Corporation Pkwy near the intersection of New Bern Ave. and New Hope Rd.

Raleigh police shut down a section of Corporation Pkwy while Raleigh Fire and Rescue and several tow trucks were called to the scene. Officers on scene told ABC11 the driver was pulled from the truck and taken to the hospital for minor injuries. They said he works for a private contractor.

According to Duke Energy's website, more than 450 customers were affected by the power outage. Power was restored by noon.
