Senator Tillis wants answers from Air Force

Senator Thom Tillis wants answers from the Air Force about why they're moving forward on plans to ground the 440th Airlift Wing.

He submitted an official statement today through the Senate Armed Forces Committee asking questions to Air Force Secretary Debra Lee James.

Among the questions, Sen. Tillis wanted to know, "if the Air Force hasn't reached a decision on the future of the 440th, why are airmen at Pope being told to transfer?"

The Pentagon wants to deactivate the unit based there to save money.

The move will cost the Fort Bragg area 1100 jobs.
