FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A Cumberland County teacher was arrested Friday after being charged with assaulting two autistic students.

Police say 57-year old Doris Holloway was taken into custody this afternoon and charged with two counts of assault on a handicapped person.

Holloway works at Glendale Acres Elementary School where she teaches Kindergarten, first and second grade students.

Police say surveillance video from May 7 showed a seven-year-old boy standing in a hallway outside of his classroom and then, his feet being lifted off the floor. Witnesses said Holloway lifted the autistic student off his feet by grabbing the front of his shirt and yanking him into the classroom. The student, who is unable to speak, fell into a desk.

On the same day, Holloway was seen in surveillance video twisting the arm of another student, a nine-year-old autistic boy, while walking him to his classroom.

Holloway is expected to make a first court appearance on Sept. 10.
