Technology, crew error to blame in plane collision
Technology and flight crew error are being blamed for the mid-air collision of two military planes over Fort Bragg last December.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (WTVD) -- Technology and flight crew error are being blamed for the mid-air collision of two military planes over Fort Bragg last December.

A U.S. Army C-27J hit two propellers of an Air Force C-130H that was flying above it during a training flight.

Both planes landed safely and no one was injured, but both planes were damaged.

An Air Force investigation report obtained by the Fayetteville Observer found that the crews failed to visually check their flight paths and were relying too much on automation anti-collision systems.
