FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Cumberland County Sheriff's deputies are searching for an armed suspect who they say broke into a home, held the homeowner's child at gunpoint, and robbed the home.

The incident happened Monday at around 1:30 p.m. at a home on the 5600 block of Burbank Street in Fayetteville.

Police say 13-year-old A.J. Patton was sleeping on a living room sofa and was awakened by the sound of the back door of the home being kicked in by the suspect.

Patton was held at gunpoint while the robber took away a 42-inch flat screen television, a Wii U Play Station and a Play Station 3.

"He told me to go into the room and start putting stuff in the bag," said Patton. "I asked him if he was going to kill me and he said he was if I slowed up."

Patton was not injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male, dressed all in black with a mask and dark tinted sunglasses. Neighbors reported that the suspect escaped in a light gray or silver Honda Civic operated by a white male.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery or anyone who may know the persons involved is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500.
