Teen hit by gunfire in Henderson

HENDERSON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A teenage girl hit was hit by gunfire Wednesday evening in Henderson.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. in the parking lot of "The Spot" at the intersection of Clark Street and East Andrews Avenue.

Police say 13-year-old Kenyetta Hawkins was sitting in a car when she was struck in the hand by gunfire.

Hawkins was driven to the hospital. Police say her injury does not appear to be life-threatening.

The shooting remains under investigation.
