Teens killed in Wake County collision
Highway Patrol said two people were killed Saturday morning in a head on collision.

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The State Highway Patrol is investigating a wreck that killed two teenagers in eastern Wake County on Saturday morning.

Authorities said it happened around 10:15 a.m. when a teenager driving a Saturn collided head-on with a Mercedes on Rolesville Road near Farm Field Drive.

The driver, 16-year-old Christian Lockamy, of Wendell, died at the scene. Lockamy's passenger, 15-year-old Than'ayha Mary McCullers, was taken to WakeMed but later passed away.

Family friend Bryan White said Lockamy had just gotten her license and blue 2006 Saturn.

"I just saw her at the grocery store just last week," said White. "She hugged my neck. She told me she loved me. That was the last I saw of her. And she was so happy to have gotten that car."

The driver of the Mercedes, 45-year-old Kimberly Nipper of Raleigh, was taken to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries. She has since been released, according to authorities.

Officials said both drivers were wearing seatbelts, but McCullers was not.

Several friends have established a Go Fund Me page to help cover Lockamy's funeral expenses: http://www.gofundme.com/christianlynn.

On Monday, McCullers' biological mother, Ahesha Taylor, visited the growing memorial at the scene of the crash.

Taylor said her daughter and Lockamy were on their way to visit her Saturday morning when the wreck happened.

"I just think it's my fault because I wish she wouldn't... I wish I wouldn't have never told her to come," said Taylor. "And maybe she'd still be here. And now she's not here."

Grief counselors were on hand at McCullers' high school Monday morning. The principal said teachers used the time to talk with their students about the dangers that come with driving and what they should do when they're behind the wheel.

A life celebration will be held for Lockamy at Beulah Christian Baptist Church in Zebulon at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

A funeral service for McCullers is planned for Thursday at Noon at Harris Funeral Home in Zebulon.

Authorities said neither speed nor alcohol was a factor. No charges will be filed.
