HOUSTON -- Two people are in the hospital after an apartment building partially collapsed due to a tornado early this morning in southwest Houston.

The National Weather Service has now confirmed an EF-1 tornado is what ripped through the complex.

It happened at the Rockport Apartment Homes in the 8500 block of Nairn around 6:30am.

According to the Houston Fire Department, 41 units are affected and two people were initially sent to Ben Taub Hospital with minor injuries. Two others were taken to the hospital, but the condition of all those hospitalized is unknown at this time.

At this time, we're not sure how many people are displaced. The Red Cross at the scene is taking people via Metro buses to a shelter at 9800 Town Park.

Some people left their homes with a few bags, but many, with nothing.

Ten buildings in the complex sustained some type of damage.
