RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A man pleaded guilty to the armed robbery of American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and three of McCreery's friends.

21-year-old Mikkail Shaw was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The home invasion happened two years ago at an off-campus apartment near NC State.

On May 5, 2014, police said three armed people burst into the apartment in the 2100 block of Raleigh's Wolf Tech Lane and took wallets, cash and electronics.

According to a search warrant, the robbers were armed with two pistols and an AK-47 assault rifle and forced McCreey and his friends into a closet, then told them to count to 100 before they could come out.

The warrant said Shaw was identified through forensic evidence.
