RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a motorcyclist was travelling over 150 mph before he crashed Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers say 22-year-old Jonathan Juarez - a soldier stationed at Fort Bragg - was first clocked doing 110 in a 70mph zone on NC540.

When an officer tried to pull him over, he then sped up to 153mph.

He took the NC55 exit and tried to get onto US1 towards Apex, but collided with a Wake County deputy.

Juarez was taken to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.

He's charged with felony speeding to elude and speeding 153 in a 70 zone.
