Two hit by car in Southern Pines
The car hit the pedestrians on Morganton Rd. Sunday evening.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after two people were hit by a car around 8:30 Sunday evening on Morganton Road near Henley Street in Southern Pines.

Officials said it started when Tarsheia Wallace, 18, was crossing Morganton Road on foot and was hit by Robert Saunders, 40, who then got out of his vehicle to assist her.

Both Wallace and Saunders were then hit by another car driven by 20-year-old Kendall Fields.

Wallace and Saunders were taken to Moore Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

Saunders died Monday morning from the injuries he sustained from the crash.
