Two people are hurt after jumping out a window to escape a Garner apartment fire.

GARNER (WTVD) -- Garner firefighters responded to an apartment fire Monday night where two people jumped from the second floor to escape the flames.

The two people have been taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

The fire happened shortly after 9 p.m. at Greenbrier Apartments on Shady Lawn Court.

Firefighters say although the fire was not a large one, and contained to one apartment, smoke was filling seven apartments.

Residents of those seven units were displaced because of the smoke and the possibility for rekindling.

There was no immediate information on the cause of the fire.

This is a developing story. Stay with ABC11 for updates.
