Vandal strikes cars, homes in Brier Creek
Some cars in the Brier Creek community are going nowhere. That's because they're parked on flat tires, slashed by some clever vandals.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Some cars in the Brier Creek community went nowhere Thursday because they had flat tires slashed by some clever vandals, according to police.

"I always thought this neighborhood was a safe neighborhood," homeowner Bob Fries told ABC11. "I never really locked my doors."

Fries might have reconsidered that after learning investigators were looking for a man believed to be responsible for several slashed tires as well as severed phone and cable lines.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, wearing blue jeans, a white shirt with blue letters that read "Hollister." Eyewitnesses say he was also wearing a dark baseball cap with black frame eyeglasses.

Police said the man cut the rubber sidewall of the tire where it's concealed under the edge of the hubcap. Many of his victims were unaware their tires had been compromised.

"Sounds to me like teenagers that are trying to get some kicks at night," Fries speculated. "It's just a prank."

Anyone with information was urged to contact Raleigh Crimestoppers at (919) 834-HELP.
