FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A candlelight vigil was held Friday night for a Fayetteville man killed in a violent robbery earlier this week.

About 50 family and friends of 23-year-old Tyrone Shepard gathered at the spot where he was shot. They want to send a message of unity, and togetherness. Plus, they want the two men who robbed and killed Tyrone to give themselves up.

"The word tells us to let your light shine, and that's what Tyrone did," said Tyrone's aunt, Cynthia Shepard. "His light impacted so many lives."

Shepard was shot Tuesday night as he walked home. He was 50 feet from his driveway police say when a car stopped, two guys jumped out, robbed and then shot him. He later died.

Police released a picture of the car that the two suspects allegedly jumped in and took off.

Those at the vigil remembered Tyrone as a kind and happy man gunned down in such a senseless act. Through their grief and tears, they found reasons to smile and forgive.

"You are forgiven. We don't hold any grudges against you. We pray for your salvation," said Cynthia Shepard.

Tyrone Shepard's funeral will be held Wednesday morning.

Fayetteville police ask anyone with information about that car or the two suspects to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 587-3254 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
