RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Wake County bus driver is under fire after a student snapped a picture of her talking on a cell phone while driving students home from Wakefield Middle School.

Christy Davis was outraged after seeing her daughter's photo.

"She says it's happening every day that she's been on the bus," said Davis. "I'm very upset and very concerned about it. I want to make sure she's taken care of, that's why I put her on the bus."

Davis contacted the school but was redirected to the transportation department at Wake County Schools.

After submitting an online complaint without an immediate response, she called ABC11.

"That to me is unacceptable," said Davis. "This needs a phone call. This needs to stop immediately."

North Carolina law prohibits bus drivers from using cell phones while driving.

All drivers are banned from texting while behind the wheel.

Wake County Schools is now investigating.

"We are very concerned about the incident in question, and are currently investigating," said a communications spokesperson for the school district. "All transportation employees are trained that cell phone use is not permitted while operating a school bus."

"I don't want her to talking and texting, either way on the phone while my child is on the bus or anyone else's child is on the bus," said Davis. "I don't want the lady to lose her job, but I want it taken care of. I think it's very dangerous.
