Wake County grand jury indicts former SEANC director
WAKE COUNTY (WTVD) -- The Wake County grand jury has indicted the former Director of the State Employees Association.
According to court documents, Dana Shane Cope was indicted Monday for "obtaining property by false pretenses (over 100,000)."

It comes after Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman told ABC11 earlier this year that she asked the State Bureau of Investigations to conduct an "inquiry" into allegations of financial impropriety at the State Employees Association of North Carolina.
The I-Team uncovered SBI search warrants which accuse Cope of embezzling money from SEANC while he was the director.
Cope abruptly resigned from his job over the winter.

The warrant said SEANC credit cards assigned to Cope were used to buy jewelry and to pay for various home improvement projects at Cope's house.
Cope's attorney issued a statement on the indictment Monday.
"Dana has cooperated with the State Bureau of Investigation and the Wake County District Attorney's office from the beginning of their investigation. Now that Dana has been formally charged he will continue to cooperate fully in answering these charges. We will begin the process of voluntarily surrendering Dana to law enforcement where he will be served the indictments and will go before a Wake County Magistrate who will determine his Conditions of Release," said Roger Smith, Jr.
