Woman accused of trying to smother, drown 2-year-old nephew
Regina Durr is accused of trying to murder her young nephew

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police arrested a 24-year-old woman in connection with the attempted murder of her 2-year-old nephew at a relative's house.

Regina Durr was arrested Saturday after officers responded to a call of an unconscious child in the 800 block of Zadock Drive.

Police said Regina was looking after her nephew and attempted to drown and smother him. The boy was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and has been released in good condition, according to authorities.

Durr was charged with attempted first degree murder and felony child abuse. She was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $500,000 bond.

No other information was released.
