Woman charged with DWI after I-40 crash
Driver said she fell asleep at the wheel, but troopers said alcohol related

GARNER, NC (WTVD) -- A Fayetteville woman was arrested Sunday morning after a single-vehicle crash on I-40 near Garner just after 5 a.m.

Investigators with the North Carolina Highway Patrol said 23-year-old Sierra Nicole McNeill was headed eastbound on the highway when she claimed she fell asleep at the wheel.

Her car hit a guardrail, bounced off, and hit another guardrail.

A passenger in the car suffered minor injuries.

McNeill was booked into the Johnston County jail on charges of DWI and careless and reckless driving.

Debris from the accident was scattered all down the eastbound lanes of the interstate. The highway was closed for about 30 minutes while the wreckage was removed from the pavement.
