Woman, dog escape from burning home
Fayetteville home damaged after fire broke out around 3 a.m. Monday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Fayetteville woman and her dog were forced from their home by an early morning fire Monday.

The woman and her pet escaped the burning home around 3 a.m.

When firefighters arrived at the 200 block of Sunset Avenue off Rosehill Road, heavy smoke and flames could be seen shooting from the attic.

The woman and her dog were already out of the house thanks to a neighbor who alerted them to the danger. They were uninjured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
