Woman killed after flipping car into creek in Johnston County

MIDDLESEX, N.C. (WTVD) -- Troopers are investigating after a fatal crash in Johnston County on Saturday.

A woman was driving on Friendship Church Road near Middlesex when she lost control of her car and hit an embankment, flipping into a creek, according to the State Highway Patrol.

She was killed and no one else was in the car. Officials identified the woman Monday as Melissa Dawn White, 38, of 914 Friendship Church Road.

Troopers say she was speeding and that it appears alcohol was involved in the crash.
