Woman shot during Johnston County home invasion
A woman was shot in the leg during a home invasion at a house along on N.C. Highway 210 in Smithfield late Thursday night.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A woman was shot in the leg during a home invasion late Thursday night.

It happened at a home along N.C. Highway 210 in Smithfield.

Johnston County deputies said two men entered Sam and Barbara Temple's home around 9:30 p.m. and began firing guns.

The Temples told authorities they returned fire. Barbara was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital. Her injuries were non-life threatening.

A neighbor told ABC11 that the same house was broken into and ransacked a few weeks ago.

Another house in the area was also ransacked this week.

Deputies are still investigating the crimes.
