APEX (WTVD) -- A raccoon found in Apex tested positive for rabies on Thursday.

Wake County Animal Control was called to the intersection of Investment Boulevard and Schiefflin Road, where they found the sick animal.

The raccoon tested positive for rabies on Friday.

No exposure to humans or pets has been reported.

Wake County said pet owners are encouraged to make sure their animals have up-to-date vaccinations.

The Wake County Animal Center holds rabies clinics throughout the county, providing vaccines for only $5.

The next rabies and microchipping event will be held Saturday.
