DURHAM (WTVD) -- An adult eagle that's having trouble flying was brought to Durham on Thursday for rehabilitation.

The wildlife rehabilitation group "Claws" is evaluating the bird at the Triangle Veterinarian Referral Hospital. Doctors believe the eagle hit something during last week's rainstorm and suffered severe bruising on its wing.

The eagle's treatment is a rare opportunity for an up-close and personal interaction with the bird.

Lake Jordan is the largest habitat of bald eagles on the East Coast.
