James Taylor's childhood home in Chapel Hill sold
Taylor lived there from when he was 3 years old through high school.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- The home where singer-songwriter and North Carolina native James Taylor grew up was sold at a private auction.

The house on Morgan Street in Chapel Hill was open for a public tour in early June.

Taylor and his family lived there from when he was 3 years old through high school. His initials are still carved in the deck.

The house sits on 24 acres and is just 2 miles from UNC campus where Taylor's father was Dean of the School of Medicine.

The buyer said they plan to preserve the house. The deal won't close until next month.
